There are many reasons why you may be receiving Spam in your email inbox. Some of the reasons and possible solutions are given below.
Why am I Getting So Much Email Spam?
You are openly displaying your email address on your website
If your website is displaying your email address, you will almost certainly end up on a spammers mailing list. Bots crawl the internet looking for email addresses to add to their lists. Responding to or opening spam emails may alert a spammer to the fact that the email address is active and monitored and increase the likelihood of your email address being sold onward. Changing the email address will only give spammers a second email addresses to harvest. To prevent this from happening we generally recommend providing your site users with a contact form rather than displaying an email address, but if it's too late and you're already on a spammers list, your inbox has a few tools to help reduce the amount getting into your inbox.
Your email address has been harvested from a different location
Your email address may have been leaked in a data breach. You can check this on haveibeenpwned.com. All the same points outlined above apply.
Contact Form Spam
If you already have a Contact Form on your website, you may have spammers attacking the contact form. Most contact forms include integration with a Spam Protection Captcha service, the most popular being Google ReCaptcha. This is simple to configure, but if you would like us to quote for this, please submit a support ticket
Legitimate Mailing List
Everybody uses a mailing list these days. If the email is from a legitimate mailing list, there will be an unsubscribe link in the footer. This is required by law.
